Q: How much does it cost to join CAP?
A: In order to join and stay in CAP, an annual fee of 32 dollars must be paid to National Headquarters.(Specific
to Overlake Squadron) Additional fees for uniforms such as the BDUs can be bought through Vanguard. The Air Force Blues Uniforms can often be ordered for free on E-Services.
Q: Are cadets expected to join the military?
A: No, however many cadets do join the military. Cadets who earn the Mitchell award can enlist
in the Air Force and start out with an advanced grade (E-3).
Q: Can cadets learn how to fly?
A: CAP does offer cadets an opportunity to fly aircraft through the Orientation Flight
Program. After Take-off and before landing, cadets are given a chance to experience the controls of CAP powered
and glider aircraft. At events like Flight Encampment , more commonly reffered to as Desert Eagle, cadets can
solo a CAP powered or glider aircraft and earn their "wings."
Q: Does CAP provide scholarships for cadet activities?

Q: How much time do I have to give each week?
A: Overlake Squadron meets every Tuesday from 1900-2100 hours. We encourage cadets to attend
meetings regularly. During weekends and the summer, CAP offers special activities to the cadets.
Q: How old do I have to be to join?
A: To join as a cadet, you must be 12-18 years of age. Cadets can stay in the program until
they turn 21. To join as a senior member, you must be at least 18 years old, there is no age limit.
